Eusebio Di Francesco readily admits time is running out for Lecce. “As things stand, we cannot survive.”

The Salentini fell to a 1-0 home defeat against Catania on Saturday, confirming they are without a single victory at the Stadio Via del Mare.

“Can Lecce stay in Serie A? From what we’ve seen recently and as things stand, we cannot survive, no,” said the Coach.

“There are problems, with experienced players currently out of action and that little bit of luck which is really not helping us at the moment.

“Having the opportunity to pick my players is very important in my work and right now certain decisions are forced upon me.

“We have a squad made up of many youngsters and lads on loan. Experience becomes crucial in situations like this.”

Despite the dismal results and plunge into the relegation zone, Lecce reiterated their faith in Di Francesco.

“Faith is crucial and I am very thankful for that show of respect,” added the Coach. “The fans aren’t happy with the situation, but we’ve got to do more in terms of character and bring out everything we’ve got.”
