Di Francesco, who won 12 caps for Italy, started his coaching career at Lanciano in the summer of 2008.
He was sacked in January 2009 and wasn't handed another job until Pescara called a year later.
The 41-year-old led the then Third Division Pescara into Serie B and helped them finish 13th in the last campaign.
