Lecce Coach Eusebio Di Francesco is preparing to face Roma, the club where he spent much of his playing career.

“This is a difficult trip and Francesco Totti’s probable absence can only be considered a bonus for us,” said the tactician who played for Roma from 1997 to 2001.

“Totti has great football intelligence, experience and seems to have four eyes to spot all potential passes. Roma remain a strong side even without their captain and we must be concentrated.

“Returning to the Stadio Olimpico as a Coach is a lovely sensation. I have wonderful memories of the Giallorossi, but now the only red and yellow in my mind is the Lecce jersey.”

Di Francesco had been heading for the sack a couple of weeks ago, but picked up four points in his last two games to turn their season around.

“It’s too early to make judgements, but I must say I can see my team improving in technical, tactical and personality terms. There is more solidity, self-confidence, awareness and I can sense all that in training.

“We are on the right track and must continue this way. Now we have to try to win games on home turf, too.”

The Salentini have so far managed only one point from their five Serie A matches at the Stadio Via del Mare.
