“We played an excellent first half and had an important team like Inter on the ropes,” Coach Di Francesco told Sky Sport Italia.

The Neroverdi had lost two of their previous three meetings with Inter by 7-0 scorelines and had never even scored against them, but today emerged with a 3-1 win.

“We played an excellent first half and had an important team like Inter on the ropes,” Coach Di Francesco told Sky Sport Italia.

“The foundations of my football are that the team remains always tight and compact, not stretched out. Obviously with Inter we tended to go deeper because they have such quality with the ball to feet, while we push harder with other opponents.

“We should enjoy this victory, even though our thoughts go to Terranova. He was coming back from a long injury lay-off and hurt himself again today.”

Sassuolo will be without all three first choice strikers next week, as Zaza, Domenico Berardi and Nicola Sansone are suspended.

Juventus tried to coax Zaza back to Turin earlier than expected, but Di Francesco shut that door.

“There is too much talk about Zaza and it affected him before the Cagliari game too. On Tuesday we announced Zaza will stay with us at least until June.”
