Eusebio Di Francesco confirms Roma captain Daniele De Rossi “won’t be called-up” to face Fiorentina and “probably” won’t be ready for CSKA Moscow.

The Giallorossi face the Viola tomorrow evening, before taking on the Russian side in the Champions League.

“De Rossi won’t be called-up,” Di Francesco confirmed in his pre-match Press conference.

“He probably won’t be there for CSKA either, and it’s difficult against Sampdoria. [Kostas] Manolas did a first training session today and it was positive, so he’ll be available, I’ll have to decide whether or not to play him.

“[Javier] Pastore and [Justin] Kluivert trained with the group for the first time. Kluivert was out for much less time than Pastore and had fewer relapses, so he’s more likely to play.

“[Edin] Dzeko will be the centre-forward tomorrow, then we’ll see what the other situations are.

“[Patrik] Schick could even play out wide, that’s a possibility. There’s a path of growth for everyone, my players are all involved and I try to include them all.”

The Coach was asked what differences he hopes to see from the draw with Napoli.

“A different attitude. We need to rediscover our consistency in attitude and tactical approach.

“I’m tired of talking about formations, but the question about sitting deeper is a good one. The less good you are at winning it up high the less aggressive you are and the deeper you sit, and that’s what happened in the second half against Napoli.

“In a 4-2-3-1 you have one more advanced player to attack with, but that’s true in a 4-3-3 where one presses and the others sit deeper.

“In both a midfield two and a three we speak about attacking and defensive triangles. The formation doesn’t matter, it’s about making the opposition play deeper and pushing higher yourself.

“That’s what we’ve been missing and I’ve said that since the start of the season. We need to rediscover it soon.

“We’re obviously behind, but we were last year too and I don’t like this talk of already aiming for fourth place.

“Winning a couple of games can take your right up the table, Inter started badly but have now recovered really well.

“I’m not happy, I want more in terms of results and performances.”
