Di Carlo: ‘Spezia heads held high’

Coach Domenico Di Carlo insists Spezia “leave with our heads held high” after a 3-1 Coppa Italia defeat to Napoli.

The Serie B side had gone into half-time on a 1-1 result at the Stadio San Paolo, causing a few scares for the home fans.

“I tip my hat to the lads for all they did this evening,” Di Carlo told Rai Sport. “We leave the tournament and Naples with our heads held high.

“I also thank the fans for their support. Preparing a game like this in three days is not easy and that’s frankly the only negative of the night.

“Unfortunately Napoli scored two goals in two minutes and that changed the game. We fought to the end, but we did it.

“In Serie B we’ve struggled a little due to injuries, but now we’re getting everyone back and hope to have a solid second half to the season.”
