Former Italy striker Paolo Di Canio notices Tottenham struggle when it comes to defending crosses, so Milan can make the most of Spurs’ weakness through Theo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud.

The Rossoneri host Spurs at San Siro on Tuesday in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

Antonio Conte’s side suffered a 4-1 defeat against Leicester City on Saturday, losing Rodrigo Bentancur for the season due to a knee injury.

Former Milan and Juventus striker Di Canio previewed the match on Sky Sport Italia on Sunday night explaining how the Rossoneri can make the most of Tottenham’s weaknesses in defending crosses.

“When Milan can, they should put crosses in even when they have just one player inside the box, such as Giroud,” said the ex-West Ham forward.

“They [Tottenham defenders] tend to fall asleep and sometimes they make silly mistakes, like Dier against Liverpool. Milan players must believe Tottenham players will make mistakes and try to hit them.

“Right now, they [Tottenham] have lost certainties, they will make mistakes, even a long ball can be dangerous. They are not so aggressive inside the box, so Milan crosses can cause trouble and Giroud can win any duel, especially against Tottenham defenders.”

The defending Serie A champions will be without Mike Maignan and Alessandro Florenzi, while Sergino Dest and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have been left out of their Champions League list.

However, Fikayo Tomori and Ismael Bennacer completed the whole training session with the team on Sunday and are expected to be available against Spurs tomorrow.
