Lazio legend Paolo Di Canio has criticised Italian referees, following the contentious decisions awarded to Juventus so far this season.

The Bianconeri have been the subject of controversial offside decisions over the past two weeks, with Catania having a goal disallowed when playing Antonio Conte's men, as well as the Turin side being given a goal against Inter that looked offside.

And the Swindon Town boss has weighed in on the subject, as well as commenting on the job Zdenek Zeman is doing at Roma.

“In Italy referee are fitter and run more [than their counterparts in England], but commit too many blunders,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport. “And then there are the assistant referees.

“Someone explain to me why Juve are given those decisions against Catani and Inter. Why is it that Juve are always in the right?

“I feel sorry for Zeman because he is a good guy,” the 44-year-old added. “But you cannot play football without looking at the defence. He has fallen into the Roma trap.

“He has agreed to coach a team where there are no players that can adapt to his football.”
