Di Canio blasts Mourinho and Roma after Bodo/Glimt win

Paolo Di Canio was not impressed with Roma following their win over Bodo/Glimt last week, calling Jose Mourinho ‘a myth’.

The Giallorossi lost the first leg 2-1 in Norway but picked up a 4-0 win at the Stadio Olimpico last week to book their spot in the semi-final, having the last laugh in a growing rivalry with Bodo/Glimt. They’ll have to get past Leicester City if they want to have a shot in the final.

Speaking on Sky Sports Italia, Di Canio discussed Roma’s win over Bodo/Glimt and criticised Mourinho.

“We get excited about the Conference League, which by the way is still all to win and now they have to play the semi-final, but do you realise that Bodo/Glimt have 7 players unloading salmon at the harbour?

“Mourinho is a myth, it seems like he brought them back to the stadium but the club has merit with the €5 tickets. Let’s not start with Italian football restarting from the Conference League, enough of this bullsh*t. I know Rome well and there has never been a shortage of fans.

“Here we have criticised Inter with Liverpool who will probably win the Champions League, there are levels!

“The fans have every right to mythologise, to mystify, after massacring the coach who took them to the Europa League semi-finals. We have to give the right value to things. It’s ridiculous to celebrate the victory over Bodo!”

Roma sparked a surprise rivalry with Bodo/Glimt this season as a result of the Europa Conference League. They lost their first group stage meeting against the Norwegian side 6-1, embarrassing Mourinho and his players, and they failed to take their revenge at home, drawing 2-2.

The Giallorossi face Napoli tonight in a key match for this season’s title race; an Azzurri loss all but sinks their Scudetto dream.
