Luigi Di Biagio insisted SPAL ‘have what it takes to bounce back’ following their relegation but refused to confirm if he would be their coach in Serie B.

SPAL’s late 2-1 defeat to Brescia ended their three-year stint in the top flight, and Di Biagio could not hide his disappointment after the match.

“Right now, I share the pain felt by the city, the fans and the club,” said the former Italy Under-21 coach.

“Right now, I share the pain felt by the city, the fans and the club,” said the former Italy Under-21 coach.

“Today there’s so much disappointment because, even if it didn't matter much in terms of league position, we wanted to win so we didn’t finish bottom.

“We had to do more, myself above all.”

The 49-year-old has won just one of his 11 games since replacing Leonardo Semplici, so is he the man to return them to Serie A?

“It’s the last of the things I’m thinking about right now. SPAL have what it takes to bounce back, putting what happened behind them.”
