“We created several good scoring opportunities and in my view deserved a lot more than to emerge empty-handed, so it’s reductive to say we just showed grit and determination,” Di Biagio told Sky Sport Italia.
“We must continue to focus on the work we did during the week, the concepts I tried to introduce. It’s a difficult situation, there’s no denying that, but we have to hope others slip up and more importantly that we pick up a lot of points quickly.
“Coming here and taking the initiative for long periods is very pleasing, but as we didn’t get any points for it, this is all redundant. I had limited options in attack and had to retain someone on the bench to shake things up later.”
SPAL are rock bottom on 15 points, with four wins, three draws and 17 defeats.
“Talking about safety in this situation might seem crazy, but I’ve seen some crazy things in my career and I know anything can happen. I do not believe SPAL are in any way inferior to Brescia, Genoa and Lecce. Not at all.”
