It means all they can do is hope to be the best runners-up out of the three groups, but the chances are very slim, as a France-Romania draw would knock Italy out.

“We knew that we had to wait for the other result, it was not positive and makes everything much more complicated,” Di Biagio told Rai Sport.
“Hope springs eternal, we’ll wait and see what happens. The lads played all three games well and I think we are the team who had the most shots on goal, but if they don’t go in and you don’t get the result, I cannot consider myself satisfied.”
Di Biagio was asked why Moise Kean was dropped as punishment, reportedly for turning up late to a team meeting this morning.
“I’ll explain in the Press conference, but it was nothing much, the fact is you need to respect the group and the rules.”
