Gerard Deulofeu reflected on his brief loan spell with Milan and Udinese’s impressive start to the season.

The Spanish winger spent six months of loan with the Rossoneri from January to June in 2017, where he scored four goals across 17 Serie A appearances for the club. It was an important loan spell for Deulofeu, who managed to reignite his career after a tough few years in the Premier League with Everton.

After that period, he returned to Barcelona and then spent time with Watford before returning to Italy with Udinese.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Deulofeu first discussed his first memories of working with Pep Guardiola at Barcelona.

“I arrived in the first team and he always stopped to talk to me. He would sit with me, take me onto the pitch and explain things to me.”

He was clear when asked about the best moment of his career.

“I’d say Milan, which led me to the national team and to the goal against France.”

The 28-year-old spoke about the impact of Udinese coach Andrea Sottil following his arrival.

“He didn’t come to change everything. Last year we finished well and he came to add a few things, not to make a revolution.”

Finally, Deulofeu discussed what Udinese’s limits are this season following their incredible start.

“I don’t know and I hope I never know, the only thing I know is that we have to run in every game like we run now, otherwise we won’t win. We are a humble and hard-working team.”

This season, Deulofeu has provided five assists in Udinese’s first seven Serie A games of the campaign.
