Gerard Deulofeu’s agent confirms the Udinese forward is eager to join Napoli and would be ‘perfect for Luciano Spalletti.’

The clubs have been in negotiations for several weeks already and are said to be close to an agreement for €15m including performance-related bonuses and add-ons.

The player is also expected to sign a five-year contract worth €2m per season plus bonuses.

“Deulofeu is not a trequartista, he is a classic Number 10,” agent Albert Botines told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“He would be perfect for Luciano Spalletti’s tactics as support for Victor Osimhen, as a second striker and classic 10 to really get the best out of him.”

Deulofeu has largely played on the wing for Udinese and Watford, but the 28-year-old believes Napoli can be the club where he really shows what he is capable of.

“He would love to play for Napoli, he’d rush there, also because he wants to play in the Champions League.”

However, when asked if there was an agreement to bring Deulofeu to Napoli, the representative was less confident.

“The two clubs have to deal with that. Gerard has never spoken to Spalletti.”

The Spaniard contributed 13 goals and five assists in 34 Serie A appearances for Udinese this season.

His previous clubs include Barcelona, Milan, Sevilla, Everton and Watford before joining Udinese in 2020.
