Gerard Deulofeu did not subscribe to the furore regarding Inter’s slow start to the season, highlighting that they’re ‘a great team’.

The Nerazzurri currently sit 7th in the Serie A table after the opening seven rounds, earning 12 points from four wins. Simone Inzaghi’s side have lost to Lazio, Milan and Udinese, leaving them in a frustrating spot heading into this international break. Inter have a tough test immediately after the return, facing off against Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

Speaking to Tuttosport, Deulofeu gave his thoughts on Inter’s apparent crisis, suggesting that judgements are being made too quickly.

“Inter are a great team and if they lose a game people start talking about a crisis. The season has just begun.

“It’s true that they have lost four games but, before facing them, I analysed their matches in depth.

“They have some weaknesses but Inter are still a strong team that, along with Milan and Napoli, will be there to fight for the Scudetto.”

Udinese have had an incredibly impressive start to their season, ending up in 3rd at the start of this international break. The Bianconeri have picked up wins over Monza, Fiorentina, Roma, Sassuolo and Inter, only dropping points in a loss to Milan and a draw with Salernitana.

Deulofeu has played a key role in this, providing five assists across these seven Serie A matches.
