Charles De Ketelaere could make his Milan debut today in the friendly against Vicenza, but details are still emerging over the bonuses in his transfer from Club Brugge.

The 21-year-old Belgium international is on the bench at the Stadio Romeo Menti this evening, as the game kicks off at 18.00 UK time.

All eyes will be on De Ketelaere, who finally made the move after months of tense negotiations, and the specifics of the deal are still being discussed.

It is believed to be worth €32m plus €3m in bonuses and a 12.5 per cent cut of any future transfer fee.

According to Nieuwsblad in Belgium, Milan will owe Club Brugge €1m for each of the five years of his contract that they qualify for the Champions League, reduced to €0.5m if it’s the Europa League.

However, there is a cap to the bonuses set at €3m, so this is why the add-ons were considered to be ‘easy to achieve.’

Usually, performance-related bonuses can be tied to the winning of silverware or a certain number of goals scored, and those are also included in De Ketelaere’s contract.

Essentially, Club Brugge are practically guaranteed the full €35m sum.
