Inter and win-back Denzel Dumfries are close to signing off on a new contract extension, despite rumours linking the Dutchman with a move away from San Siro this summer.

The former PSV wide-mas has just under a year remaining on  his current contract with the Nerazzurri, so the club were keen to either sell him or get him signed up to a new deal this summer in order to avoid losing him as a free agent this time next year.

Premier League clubs Manchester United and Aston Villa had been mentioned as possible destinations, but the 28-year-old is now set to stay on in Milan

Dumfries agrees terms of new Inter contract

Dumfries has reached an agreement in principle with Inter over a new four-year deal, according to multiple outlets in Italy.

Inter are set to hand him a contract similar to the one signed by left wing-back Federico Dimarco midway through the 2023-24 season, albeit on slightly lower wages.

Calciomercato reports that Dumfries is set to take home an annual salary of around €4m on his new deal, which is set to run until the summer of 2028.
