Reports are growing in Italy that Andre Onana will join Manchester United for €53-55m after Inter agreed to lower their asking price, with a transfer likely secured within 24 hours.

Sportitalia had already suggested that the negotiations were progressing rapidly and that tomorrow would be the key to ending this long-running transfer saga.

It was stated the figures would be just under €55m, a drop down compared to the €60m asking price that had until now been rock solid.

Sky Sport Italia have the same evaluation of the situation, that a deal will be done for circa €53-55m and everyone wants it to be resolved by the end of Friday.

It is likely to be €50m plus add-ons, an upgrade from the previous offer of €45m.

It’s because Inter have already started pre-season training today with Onana present, while Erik ten Hag wants the Cameroon international with his squad for their summer tour that begins on July 17.

The Nerazzurri purchased Onana as a free agent last season when his contract with Ajax was allowed to run down, so any sale is pure profit for the club coffers.

The plan to replace Onana has already been worked out for Anatoliy Trubin of Shakhtar Donetsk and Bayern Munich shot-stopper Yann Sommer.

Between them, the cost will be circa €14m.

  1. Perhaps Inter are this desperate for money, but it’s extremely rare to get a Keeper of Onana’s quality at any price. Surely he guarantees another 10-12 points per season by virtue of big saves and play from the back that are beyond 90% of Keepers. Inter will regret this sale.

  2. Inter are need the money, so they should have stayed firm at 60M + bonuses. Onana is a rare keeper, probably top3 at the moment.
