La Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed the financial details behind Kim Min-jae’s transfer to Bayern Munich, with the South Korean set to officially join the Bundesliga giants in the coming days.
According to multiple sources, Kim has agreed personal terms with Bayern and will complete his move to Bavaria once his release clause is paid to Napoli, which becomes active on July 1.
In the meantime, Kim is back home in South Korea completing basic training as part of the country’s customary military service programme.
Then, at the beginning of next month, Bayern will reportedly pay Napoli a fee of €58m as per La Gazzetta, a substantial profit given that the Partenopei paid around €18m to snatch him away from Fenerbahce less than a year ago.
As explained by Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli in a recent interview with Il Corriere dello Sport, the release clause, which many had thought to be set at €50m, is actually variable depending on the financial revenues of the potential buyer. Therefore, Bayern will actually pay Napoli €58m.
Kim himself will also profit on a personal level from his move to Bayern, where he will reportedly be handed a five-year contract worth more than €7m per season in terms of salary.
All that is missing now, writes La Gazzetta, is the official confirmation.
