Roma have reached a total agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for Sardar Azmoun, finally giving Jose Mourinho his new striker.

The Giallorossi have searched far and wide for a new centre forward this summer, needing to bolster their frontline following the serious injury suffered by Tammy Abraham.

A long list of players were considered, from Gianluca Scamacca and Alvaro Morata to Marcos Leonardo and Duvan Zapata. Finally, however, Roma have gotten their reinforcement.

As detailed by Calciomercato.com, Roma have agreed to sign Azmoun from Leverkusen on a loan deal with a €12m buy option attached. Documents are now being exchanged and everything will be finalised in the coming days.

The Iranian striker was proposed by intermediaries to Milan but the Rossoneri were not particularly keen, only considering him a low-cost option.

The report suggests that the deal could have also been a loan with an €8m obligation to buy clause, giving Roma the choice of two formulas.
