Details behind Galatasaray’s lucrative offer to Mertens

Galatasaray are reportedly ready to invest to convince Dries Mertens of the move to Turkey, offering him a lucrative contract.

The 35-year-old Belgian forward is now a free agent after his contract expired with Napoli last month, ending a nine-year spell in the Campania capital. Mertens’ departure upset the fans, and the player himself looked emotional when saying goodbye to the supporters on social media.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Galatasaray have offered Mertens a contract worth €4m net per season plus add-ons, with an automatic renewal should Champions League qualification be secured.

On top of that there’s also other benefits in the deal, like a house with a private driver and 30 Turkish Airlines flights to both Naples and Brussels, allowing him to return to his homes easily.

Mertens is now seriously considering the proposal and is looking inclined to accept. Interested clubs like Juventus, Lazio and Royal Antwerp are now keeping a close eye on the situation.
