Vincent Candela has urged former club Roma to give summer signing Mattia Destro a regular place in the starting line-up.

The Italian joined the Giallorossi in the summer from Genoa, via Siena, in a deal that could eventually cost them around €15m.

However, he’s had his problems at the Stadio Olimpico given that the striker has responded with just one goal in eight games. He’s only started four of those.

“I would play Destro,” the ex-French international told Radio Audax.

“He was a player who the club and Coach Zdenek Zeman strongly wanted and he was a big investment. He needs space in the team.”

Destro is an Italian Under-21 international who is now part of Cesare Prandelli’s full set-up.
