The Italian international has moved to the Rossoneri on loan with the option of making the deal permanent in the summer, and was officially presented today.

“Milan are Milan, there was no convincing needed,” the striker told assembled media.

“I want to do well, and this is the perfect place to do it.

“There were a lot of things which were important in me coming here, but I think [joint-CEO Adriano] Galliani’s gesture is the thing that meant the most to me.

“When they told me, I was in disbelief, it’s nice that he came to Rome to meet me. He’s a very important person in the world of football, and it’s good that he’d do something like that for me.

“I come to Milan with great desire to show everyone my quality. I’m here to help the team, we’ll do everything to do well.

“Milan have always had great strikers, not least the Coach [Pippo] Inzaghi. If I can achieve even half of what they did I’ll be happy.”

Destro would not be drawn on the travails of his former club Roma, insisting he’s just focused on Milan.

“I left Roma because I had an offer from Milan. I wanted to prove my quality and wearing the Milan shirt is a wonderful thing.

“Now I’m a Milan player, so I’m only thinking about the Rossoneri.”
