“AC Milan communicates that Mattia Destro underwent medical and instrumental tests this morning at the Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute in Milan,” the club announced in a statement.

“He has been diagnosed with a heavy bruising to the left tibia bone and his recovery time will be evaluated based on further tests.”

Although the forward is unlikely to feature in Sunday’s derby, the news will come as a relief to Coach Pippo Inzaghi in that nothing was broken.

Destro arrived on loan at San Siro from Roma in January and has scored twice for the Rossoneri in nine appearances.
