Roberto Mancini has fuelled rumours that Mattia Destro could join Inter – ‘I know his qualities’.
The striker has been the source of constant speculation, with rumours indicating that the Nerazzurri are interested in bringing him to San Siro, with Dani Osvaldo set to leave.
“Destro? I’ve seen him grow, and I know his qualities,” Mancini admitted in an interview with Tiki Taka.
“He’s playing for a big team, and it’s hard to find more space in a team like Roma.”
The Coach also discussed his return to the Inter bench, and asked fans for patience as he seeks to revive the club’s fortunes.
“I think it’s important to work, and sometimes unfortunately to work well it takes a little bit more time. You can’t change things in an instant.
“In every situation you have to see the positives, and not get downhearted when things go wrong.
“The League still has a long way to go, so I’m sure that we’ll make it into the Champions League either by finishing third or by another route.
“Empoli? I expected more, because I’ve seen positive signs but those kind of games happen.
“We know we played a bad game, but also we got a point and there are other positive signs which are a starting point.”
Mancio also had kind words for his city rival, Pippo Inzaghi who is on the bench at Milan.
The former striker has been under pressure this week after taking just one point from three games, but Mancini thinks the Rossoneri should stick with him.
“I think Milan should trust him,” Mancini said.
“When you choose a young Coach you know what promise they have for the future. There might be some disappointments along the way, but Pippo will become a great Coach.”
