Mattia Destro said he is “here to save Genoa” from relegation after arriving on loan from Bologna, reuniting with Mattia Perin.

The striker had already been on the Grifone’s books from 2010 to 2013, although he spent much of that on loan, making just 18 appearances for the club.

“I am absolutely ready to start again, I’m fired up and we all need a great second half to the season,” Destro told reporters as he arrived for his medical.

“I’m here to save Genoa. We all have a common objective and are concentrated on achieving it.”

Destro is not the only new arrival, because Valon Behrami signed on as a free agent, while his former teammate Perin completed a six-month loan move from Juventus today too.

“I already spoke to Perin, Stefano Sturaro and Mimmo Criscito on the phone. We’ll have the medical first, then I’ll get to see them in person at the training ground.”
