During the latest interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, France coach Didier Deschamps warned Juventus that Adrien Rabiot ‘has many options’ while enthusiasm at Milan is ‘not the same’ as during the 2021-22 campaign.

Deschamps released an interesting interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday, talking about the upcoming Euros but also discussing the future of some Serie A stars in the France squad.

Juventus recently offered Rabiot a contract extension, but Deschamps is still unsure about the talented midfielder’s future. Rabiot’s deal in Turin runs out at the end of June.

“I know he is happy in Turin, where he remained last season without the Champions League, which he could play next season,” said the coach.

“Sometimes, we talk about it, but a decision is up to him; he is free, and he has many options.”

Deschamps also talked to Theo about his future at Milan.

“We spoke about it in March. Generally, there is not the same enthusiasm as when Milan won the title, but he seemed happy at the club, where he’s been the captain too,” said the France coach.

“However, organising a tournée in Australia during preparations for the Euros was not very nice.”

Deschamps, a former Juventus midfielder, also sent a message to Bianconeri’s midfielder Paul Pogba, who had been suspended for four years after failing a doping test in August 2023.

“I am sorry. We often talk. He’s had a difficult moment and I would have brought him to the World Cup [in 2023] if he was not injured,” Deschamps admitted.

“I know him and I don’t think he took banned substances intentionally. There is a positive thing which is the appeal to the arbitration court. I hope he can return soon, he has the mental strength to do it.”

During the same interview, Deschamps said Italy remained highly competitive at Euro 2024 because of the strength of their group and said Inter star Marcus Thuram could become Olivier Giroud’s heir in the national team.
