Serie A sporting judge Gerardo Mastrandrea has written up a detailed report of the recent chaos in Roma’s Derby della Capitale win over Lazio, highlighting racist chants from fans of both clubs.

The Giallorossi ended a four-game winless run against their bitter rivals in their Serie A clash on Saturday, edging out a 1-0 win after a Gianluca Mancini header in the 42nd minute. The result keeps Daniele De Rossi’s side in the thick of the race for a top four finish and leaves the Biancocelesti languishing in mid-table.

As usual, sparks flew in the Derby della Capitale; tensions were high on the pitch and a brawl took place between Lazio’s Matteo Guendouzi and Paulo Dybala, with the latter showing a shinpad showing Argentina’s 2022 World Cup victory to the Frenchman.

Derby della Capitale fallout

As released today, Serie A sporting judge Mastrandrea has highlighted various inflammatory incidents in Roma’s Derby della Capitale win over Lazio, starting with racist chanting.

Some Biancocelesti fans in the Curva Nord were accused of racism towards Romelu Lukaku and antisemitism to Giallorossi fans in the first half, whilst some Roma fans allegedly chanted racist abuse at Guendouzi in the second half. An additional investigation will be opened into these acts.

Mastrandrea also requested documents related to Mancini’s waving of the Lazio rat flag and the brawl between Guendouzi and Dybala was reported as well.
