Denmark gave an important update on Christian Eriksen’s conditions after the Inter midfielder suffered cardiac arrest on Saturday. ‘It has been decided that he should have an ICD’.

The playmaker collapsed mid-game in the 1-0 defeat to Finland and was transferred to hospital after having received CPR on the pitch.

Denmark doctor Morten Boesen confirmed the 29-year-old ‘suffered cardiac arrest’, and the DBU (the Danish FA) has given updates regarding Eriksen’s conditions.

“After Christian has been through different heart examinations, it has been decided that he should have an ICD (heart starter),” a statement from the Danish FA said.

“This device is necessary after a cardiac attack due to rhythm disturbances.

“Christian has accepted the solution and the plan has moreover been confirmed by specialists nationally and internationally, who all recommend the same treatment.

“We encourage everybody to give Christian and his family peace and privacy the following time.”
