Empoli President Fabrizio Corsi gave his version of the clash between Lorenzo Tonelli and German Denis and ruled out pressing charges against the striker.

The veteran La Dea striker reportedly entered the Empoli changing room after the 2-2 draw with Atalanta and punched Tonelli after he had insulted the Argentine during the match.

“It’s absurd that there was this epilogue to the match, it was like nothing I’ve ever seen,” Corsi told Radio 1.

“Tonelli made a mistake and I need to know – if he made a joke in bad taste, I’ll have to fine him

“At the end of the game I greeted everyone and then left, but Denis came in with [Luca] Cigarini and another Atalanta colleague and asked for Tonelli.

“Then Denis threw a punch at our player while Luca Cigarini tried to hold onto Tonelli.

“Such behaviour is inexcusable. We won’t press charges against Denis, absolutely not. I want to talk with Tonelli to clarify what happened and if he was in the wrong he will have to pay.”
