Napoli midfielder Diego Demme was stretchered off during the Coppa Italia semi-final against Atalanta after a strange head injury.

He was accidentally struck in the face from point-blank range by a Marten De Roon clearance.

Initially sore, he fell to the ground a few minutes later and was visibly dazed.

Napoli medical staff were rushed on and Demme’s neck was stabilised before he was stretchered off.

He was placed in the ambulance for some routine tests, but as things stand, probably will not be taken to hospital.
