Napoli midfielder Diego Demme praised coach Luciano Spalletti ahead of the big game against Roma but stressed the Partenopei are not getting carried away in the title battle. ‘Let’s go slowly’.

“Let’s go slowly, the important thing is always the next match,” Demme replied to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli when asked about the Scudetto battle.

There’s new belief at the Partenopei, who finished fifth in Serie A due to a draw on the final day of 2020-21.

This means they are playing in the Europa League this term and arrive from a 3-0 win over Legia Warszawa on Thursday.

“We played very well and we are happy to have won,” Demme said about the match against the side from Poland. “We are back in the running in the group.”

It was Napoli’s first win in the Europa League this campaign, but the side have a perfect record in Serie A, with eight wins from eight games.

Demme gave Spalletti the credit for the great start to the new season: “Yes, he gives us confidence and we prepare very well for the matches with him.

“He sees things that many coaches don’t see, details that make the difference.”

Lorenzo Insigne scored a spectacular goal against Legia and Demme praised the captain.

“He scored a great goal, congratulations to him,” the midfielder said. “Lorenzo is a very good player. We know what someone like him brings to the pitch.

“There aren’t many like him because he can make a difference in a moment.”

Demme then focused on the match against Roma in Serie A and stressed the Azzurri are ready for the challenge.

“We want to continue our journey,” he said. “Roma lost 6-1 yesterday, but it’s different because they changed so many players.

“In the League it’s another game and we would like to win this one too.”

The 29-year-old then added some positive words about ‘unmarkable’ Victor Osimhen.

“He’s almost unmarkable, yes,” he said. “He’s doing very well. I’ve never trained with someone like him.

“He gives us pace, technique, scores goals. He has everything a great striker needs, I’ve never seen anyone like him.”

  1. In the Juve/ Milan centered universe of FI. it is a wonder more praise has not be given to the job Spaletti is doing. The transference of confidence & calmness has done wonders for the club.
A Healthy Napoli is a chore for any team to defend and the defense has done a remarkable job.
It’s early but the eyes of Europe can sense this young exciting team is a force to be reckoned with.
    Bravo Luciano!!
