Atalanta defender Merih Demiral was furious with Roma striker Tammy Abraham, showing his scars on social media and demanding a red card.

The Giallorossi won the game 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico with a goal from Abraham.

However, Demiral took to Twitter afterwards to vent his irritation, showing pictures of the scars that display stud marks in his knee and shin.

The incident appeared to be accidental, as Abraham fell on top of Demiral’s leg following a sliding tackle.

The England international was booked, but Atalanta wanted a red card for dangerous play.

“What is this?!!!!!” wrote Demiral with footage of the coming together on Twitter and Instagram Stories.

  1. @sten Demiral came in clean and cleared the ball. He was nowhere near Abrahams leg’s. Abraham was late into the challenge and stomped ond Demirals leg. Clear red card

  2. In EPL Demiral would have been carded for this reckless challenge. He went with an open foot, risking to injure Abraham. Stud marks on his shin show the second way this was a very reckless tackle. Abraham was running at full tilt, and couldn’t avoid contact. Demiral was risking injuring both himself and Abraham. In one word, reckless.
