Juventus defender Merih Demiral has been called up for the first time in six months to face former club Sassuolo.

Demiral damaged his ACL during Juve’s 2-1 win at Roma in January, which also saw Nicolo Zaniolo suffer the same injury.

However, the 22-year-old has been passed fit to make his comeback against Sassuolo, where he spent the second half of last season.

Despite that and Leonardo Bonucci struggling with a heel problem, it is unlikely the Turk will be thrown straight back into the fold.

Therefore, Daniele Rugani is considered the favourite to partner Matthijs de Ligt in central defence this evening.
