President Massimo Cellino has proposed the job to former Sampdoria, Juventus and Chievo coach Delneri, which would see him supervise the senior squad, youth academy and try to create a unified vision within the club.

“I am intrigued by the proposal that was offered to me,” Delneri told the Corriere della Sera newspaper.

“I know President Cellino well and I think I have the necessary experience for the job. I am enthusiastic, as it’s a role that doesn’t exist in Italian football.

“The club will deal with transfers, so I will only give my opinion on deals if I am asked.”

Brescia are in penultimate place, so it’s likely this would be a project starting in Serie B.

“If we were to be relegated, then the idea would of course be to get straight back into Serie A. Diego Lopez arrived as coach during a very difficult time and is someone of great character.”
