According to Il Secolo XIX, Genoa have put talks with Antonio Candreva on hold and sounded out the availability of former Tottenham star Dele Alli.

Serie A strugglers Genoa are looking for a replacement for Ukraine international Ruslan Malinovskyi, who suffered a shock ankle injury during a Serie A match against Venezia less than two weeks ago.

Multiple sources reported that the Grifone were ready to close a deal with free agent Antonio Candreva, a former winger for Inter, Lazio, and Salernitana.

However, Il Secolo XIX, the most important Ligurian newspaper, claims that negotiations with the experienced Italian player have been put on hold as club directors are concerned about the harmony inside the dressing room.

According to the report, Genoa have sounded out another player available on a free transfer: 28-year-old midfielder Dele Alli.

The Englishman has been without a club since his contract with Everton ended in June 2024.

He has 51 goals and 34 assists in 194 Premier League appearances with the Toffes and Tottenham, but he played his last competitive game with Besiktas over a year ago, on February 26, 2023.

Genoa have lost three consecutive games across all competitions, including a Coppa Italia derby against city rivals Sampdoria, and have five points in six Serie A matches.

  1. Hmmm, let’s see:
Candreva – model pro, serie an experience, a hard worker and team ethic personified.
Dele – Hasn’t played a game for over a year and 7 months and couldn’t even cut it in Turkey.
Seems like a really tough choice.
