Ex-England international and former Tottenham Hotspur talent Dele Alli has received his first competitive matchday call-up in over two years for the Serie A match between Roma and Como at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening.
Dele has not featured competitively, nor appeared in a matchday squad in 735 days, dating back to a 0-0 draw against Antalyaspor on February 26, 2023, while he was on loan with Besiktas from Premier League side Everton.
The 28-year-old has been training with Como since Boxing Day after being handed an opportunity by first team coach Cesc Fabregas. He joined on an initial trial, before signing a contract until the summer of 2026 midway through January.
Dele is yet to appear for Como’s senior side in a competitive fixture since then. Como have played nine Serie A fixtures since Christmas.
Given Como’s current form, and the fact that Fabregas is expected to stick with a settled side for the Roma match, Dele is unlikely to gain any minutes on Sunday, but he will be available from the substitutes bench if required.
