Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero pays tribute to Giampiero Boniperti who has died aged 92: ‘Nobody else will represent Juventus as you did.’

Boniperti died from heart failure on Friday, he would have turned 93 in July.

He was Juventus’ Honorary President and a club’s legend having scored 182 goals in a Bianconeri shirt during his career. He also served as Juventus’ President for almost 20 years between 1971 and 1990.

Back in 2006, Alessandro Del Piero beat his record for goals at the club. The former Italian striker had joined the Bianconeri when Boniperti was the club’s managing director in 1993.

Del Piero paid tribute to Boniperti with a message on Instagram.

“Dear President, nobody has represented Juventus as you did. And nobody will.

“I owe you everything, or almost, as a footballer and as a man. Because without Juventus, without your Juventus, I wouldn’t be the main I am.

“I’ll be grateful to you forever and I hope I’ve been able to reward you on and off the pitch, just like you wanted.”

“Thank you, President.”
