Del Piero: ‘Just like cup games’

Juventus are not in European competition this season and have so far generally had the benefit of six or seven-day breaks between League fixtures, beyond midweek League rounds that have affected every club.

However, in facing Napoli in midweek just three days after playing Lazio at the weekend, the Bianconeri are experiencing something similar to a return to European Cup action, says Del Piero via his personal website. The 36-year-old also paid tribute to the strength of the Partenopei ahead of the match.

“After the important victory in Rome against Lazio, before us now lies a new challenge that will be pretty tough…back to San Paolo, after the postponement of November 6, after a couple of days in Borghesiana, without being in Turin since Saturday’s game.

“This week we play to a ‘cup rhythm’, that is, three games in a week, so there’s no time to enjoy the recent good results, but we only need to think about what will happen tomorrow.”

The team opted to stay in Rome after their 1-0 win at the Olimpico on Saturday and held training at Borghesiana before later travelling down to Naples on Monday afternoon.
