The former Italy and Juventus forward is now an ESPN pundit, but according to the Rome-based paper, he could make a shock return to Turin to replace Andrea Agnelli.

Agnelli was one of the main architects of the Super League that was announced one week ago.

However, the project collapsed within 48 hours and Agnelli’s position remains up in the air. Agnelli is not considering resigning, but his cousin and Exor CEO John Elakann may decide to remove him from the role during the next Exor shareholders’ meeting on May 27.

Del Piero is not the only candidates for the Juventus Presidency.

Alessandro Nasi is the leading candidate for the role and former Juventus and Italy coach Marcello Lippi has also emerged as a potential replacement for Agnelli.

Earlier in April, former Juventus striker David Trezeguet suggested that both he and Del Piero could be returning to Juventus.
