Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero highlights the Old Lady’s mistakes against Villarreal last night: ‘They never took any risk and the ball was moving too slowly.’

Del Piero commented on the Bianconeri’s 3-0 loss against the La Liga side on Sky Sport last night.

“I saw a good first half. They defended well and Villarreal didn’t have many chances,” he said.

“They switched off in the second half and details made the difference. They hit the crossbar, Szczesny almost saved the penalty, but Juventus had demerits in the second half.

“They didn’t have many ideas, they didn’t take risks in one vs. one situations and never played vertically. If you want to create something, you must move the ball more quickly.”

Del Piero had visited Juventus’ training ground the day before the game but didn’t attend the match at the Allianz Stadium, commenting on the match from Sky Sport Italia’s studios in Milan. The legendary Italian striker was part of the Juventus squad that won the last Champions League in 1996.
