“You could see the attention and dedication we have put into our training this week,” insisted the captain.
“We played 45 minutes each, but a little tiredness is only normal at this stage of the season, as is the fact some things didn’t work quite right.”
Del Piero came off the bench and got the only consolation goal with a delightful finish.
“I am happy that I was able to score that goal by keeping a cool head at the right moment. The chip was the only possible option.
“It was a rough match and perhaps not entirely friendly, but that too is normal when two big clubs face off and are preparing for their futures.”
