Former Italy internationals Alessandro Del Piero and Antonio Conte took to their official Instagram accounts to pay tribute to tennis star Roger Federer after he announced his retirement.
The Laver Cup in London next week will be Federer’s final tournament as a professional tennis player, as the 41-year-old announced through his social media accounts yesterday.
Federer is considered one of the best tennis players of all time, if not the best one, and messages have been pouring in over the last 24 hours.
Among them are former Italy stars Alex Del Piero and Antonio Conte.
The ex-Juventus striker posted a picture from almost 15 years ago where he is seen swapping Bianconeri shirts with the tennis legend.
“Thanks for everything you have given to the sports world. Good luck for what comes next, legend,” wrote the 2006 Italy World Cup winner.
Tottenham boss Conte shared a picture of Federer in action on his Instagram series, writing: “Good luck on your new journey and thank you for all these years of amazing tennis!”
