“I think the prestige we have in the world is not reflected by 17th place in the FIFA rankings,” Tavecchio told reporters in Rome today.

“There are other interests that enter into play and Italy’s image isn’t liked by many. However, we want to defend our image in the world, above all with Antonio Conte.”

Tavecchio also revealed Italy are bidding to host the 2019 European Under-21 Championship.
