Roma‘s 6-1 defeat against Bodo/Glimt was not the most humiliating loss in the club’s history as they also suffered European embarrassments against Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

José Mourinho’s side lost 6-1 in Norway last night, suffering one of the most humiliating defeats in the club’s history.

The Portuguese tactician massively rotated the squad and threw his players under the bus after the final whistle saying had he over-estimated them.

Circa 400 Roma fans travelled to Norway and were so furious with their players that they even refused the shirt of captain Lorenzo Pellegrini.

However, their 6-1 loss in Norway is not the most embarrassing defeat in the club’s history.

Roma’s worst defeat came in 1935 when they lost 8-0 away at Ferencvaros in the Round of 16 of the Mitropa Cup.

Some ten years later, they suffered a similar defeat, losing 7-0 against the ‘invincible’ Torino side.

Three of their most embarrassing defeats came in recent years.

Back in 2007, they suffered a famous 7-1 defeat at Old Trafford in a Champions League quarter-final clash against Manchester United.

Luciano Spalletti was in charge of that Roma side that had won the reverse fixture 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico.

In 2014, Roma lost 7-1 against Bayern Munich in a Champions League group stage clash with Rudi Garcia in the dug-out.

Oddly, that game was also played on October 21, the same date as the Bodo/Glimt match, so Roma fans may not fancy more matches on the same day in the future.

Last but not least, it’s their 7-1 defeat away at Fiorentina in January 2019.

The Tuscans trashed Roma in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia, that time with Eusebio Di Francesco as their head coach.

Aleksandar Kolarov netted Roma’s only goal, while Federico Chiesa scored a hat-trick for La Viola
