The Partenopei lost their seventh game in the League against Genoa last weekend and President Aurelio De Laurentiis will, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, evaluate Gattuso’s immediate future on Saturday.

The newspaper claims the former Milan coach will most certainly leave after the season, but reveals De Laurentiis has contacted his closest collaborators to take stock of the current situation.

Gattuso’s immediate future will be discussed, as the patron doesn’t want to make any hasty decisions that would be dictated by the resentment of the current situation.

He has decided to wait, at least until Saturday, to get a clearer picture of the situation.

A decisive week has thus started for Gattuso, as the Partenopei travel to Bergamo for the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals against Atalanta, followed by a Serie A match against Juventus on Saturday.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the President, beyond the results on the pitch, was not happy about the attacks directed at him by the coach and disagrees with some of the technical choices made by Gattuso.

The report claims he has not been happy to see Nikola Maksimovic and Elseid Hysaj, who are on expiring contracts, play over Amir Rrahmani, who cost €13m and has struggled to convince the coach.

Gattuso has even preferred to play Giovanni Di Lorenzo out of position when Rrahmani has been the only alternative.

La Gazzetta also claims the patron already has some targets in mind and is an admirer of Hellas Verona coach Ivan Juric and Spezia coach Vincenzo Italiano.

Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi is mentioned as an alternative too, but none of them will be able to arrive mid-season.

De Laurentiis will reportedly try to bring in Rafael Benitez or Walter Mazzarri for the remainder of the season, should he decide to part ways with Gattuso early.
