Italian tactician Roberto De Zerbi is making a real impact in the Premier League, as his Brighton and Hove Albion side humiliated Liverpool 3-0 this afternoon to leapfrog them in the table.

That result propelled them into seventh place with 30 points, leapfrogging Jurgen Klopp’s side in the table.

Solly March scored twice before Danny Welbeck flicked the ball over Joe Gomez to beat Alisson Becker.

Former Benevento, Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk coach De Zerbi took over at Brighton on September 18, after Chelsea had poached his predecessor Graham Potter.

His opening game on their bench was also against Liverpool, a 3-3 thriller on October 1 where they had been leading 2-0, and he got revenge this afternoon.

It is the latest in a strong run of results for De Zerbi’s Brighton, who also flattened Everton 4-1 in the Premier League and Middlesbrough 5-1 in the FA Cup.

Perhaps most satisfying of all was the 4-1 victory over Potter’s Chelsea on October 29.

  1. Who cares about the overrated commercial mercenary Premier league. There are plenty of sites about the hyped up EPL not something serie a fans care about much.

  2. An excellent result for De Zerbi. And this result doesn’t seem to be an anomaly either. Of equal interest is – what is happening with Klopp? Has his time at Liverpool come to an end? Where to next? Would he try Serie A?
