New Napoli midfielder Billy Gilmour has revealed that his former Brighton boss, Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi, called him up when he heard about his impending move to Serie A to give him a cheeky warning about life in Italy.

“Napoli is crazy, like me, you’ll enjoy,” De Zerbi told Gilmour, as told by the Scotsman himself.

Napoli have released behind-the-scenes footage of Gilmour’s signing day, showing snippets of a conversation on his way over for a medical, as well as his first introduction to the Partenopei crowd.

Gilmour joins Napoli from Brighton

The Scotland international moved to Napoli on the final day of the summer transfer window at the end of August.

He joined the club on a permanent transfer from Brighton, costing a reported €14m plus add-ons.

The former Rangers and Chelsea youth player did not feature against Parma the day after his signing, but could be in line to make his Serie A debut against Cagliari after the international break.
