Sassuolo sit on top of the table after their away win against Hellas Verona but Roberto De Zerbi said the Neroverdi are not Scudetto contenders.

“It’s never easy to face Verona or Atalanta. You always have to adapt. It’s not a coincidence everyone struggles to play against them. We knew we had to be play vertical and win many one-to-one duels,” he told Sky Sport after his side’s 2-0 away win at Verona.

The Neroverdi are enjoying a one-point lead over Milan but the Rossoneri face Napoli at the San Paolo this evening.

“I won’t support neither of them. I support Brescia and the team I coach," De Zerbi said.

"We have to be serious people,” he continued.

“As far as the Scudetto is concerned, there are other teams that have much more than us, from all points of view.

"We don’t have a prize money for the survival but we do have one for European qualification,” the 41-year-old revealed.

“I signed a one-year contract [at the beginning of the season], that’s how I like to work, free from constraints. I signed for a year but it is worth as ten. I felt it was more right to do so."
