Tension escalated before the break of Brighton-Roma last night as Il Corriere dello Sport reports Roberto De Zerbi pushed Giallorossi team manager Valerio Cardini on the touchline.
Roma suffered a 1-0 loss against Brighton on Thursday, but still managed to qualify for the Europa League quarter-finals thanks to a 4-0 win secured at the Stadio Olimpico a week earlier.
There was tension on and off the pitch at the Amex Stadium last night, with clashes between players and even staff members.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Brighton coach De Zerbi was involved towards the end of the first half. The Italian tactician confronted Roma team manager Valerio Cardini and even pushed him, but when Cardini seemed about to respond, Daniele De Rossi held him and brought him back to the Roma bench.
According to the report, De Rossi was unhappy with the attitude of some Brighton players who had provoked his footballers, while Leandro Paredes and Lorenzo Pellegrini defended their teammates on the pitch.
